Speaker of Malawi National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara has been elected as Executive Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association African Region.

She was elected on Monday, during the 52nd Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association-African Region that is taking place in, Freetown Sierra Leone.

Gotani Hara is currently serving as Member of Parliament for Mzimba South East and is also first Deputy Secretary General of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Meanwhile, congratulatory messages have flooded the social media with MCP Vice President for the North Harry Mkandawire taking the leading role.
