Speaker Catherine Gotani Hara acts on Namalomba’s injunction, Nankhumwa’s Cabinet dissolved

Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara has finally acted on an injunction obtained Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament for Machinga Shadreck Namalomba against shadow Cabinet appointed by leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa’s Shadow Cabinet led to the change of sitting plan in the chamber which saw Namalomba being moved from seat number 25 to 100.
This did not please Namalomba who went to court last week to obtain an injunction on the matter.

When Parliament resumed this afternoon, Hara announced to the house of the injunction and suspended the house suspended for 30 minutes in order to change the sitting plan as ordered by the court.

This means that all shadow cabinet ministers appointed by opposition leader of the house Kondwani Nankhumwa will relocate seats they held last time.

Meanwhile, Members of parliament including Richard Chimwendo Banda Leader of the House have said the move has a negative impact on immunity previllege that they have when parliament is in session.
