The Pretoria Magistrate Court in South Africa yesterday warned the State that it would close the R102 million case involving the leader and founder of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, if the state fails to finalise investigations by January 2023.
Bushiri’s spokesperson Ephraim Nyondo confirmed the development saying that the case was back in court yesterday, where the state asked for postponement.
Bushiri and his wife, Mary, were arrested in October 2020 on alleged fraud accusations. The State has been arguing that they had been investigating the couple from 2018 and they had evidence to support the arrest.
