Well-known social commentator Joshua Chisa Mbele has saluted President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera for cancelling this year’s Independence Day celebration slatted for this coming Wednesday due to the economic challenges rocking the country.

State House Director of Communication Sean Kampondeni announced the cancellation during State House quarterly media briefing held at Kamuzu Palace today.

According to Kampondeni, the President has opted to having a small prayer ceremony to take place at BICC.

Writing on his official facebook page Chisa Mbele hailed Chakwera for the gesture.

“Now the President is my Best Friend.

“Kodi amamwa chani?

He added: “Uku ndiye kuganiza kwa munthu who is responsive to times.
“Well Done.”
