One of the social commentators Joshua Chisa Mbele has pulled out of the 2025 presidential race, hours after Malawi Congress Party (MCP) second Vice President Harry Mkandawire announced that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will represent the party during the polls.

In a statement posted on his official facebook page, Chisa Mbele said he will then contest in 2030 general election.

“His Excellency Ngwazi Dr Lazarus Chakwera will be the MCP torch-bearer in 2025 Elections. That’s the reason I’m not contesting.
“I’m succeeding Chakwera in 2030,” wrote Mbele.

But Chisa Mbele could not disclose the reasons for his change of heart.

Chisa Mbele was recently arrested over a defamatory post on his official facebook page and is currently on court bail.
