Silver Strikers Coach Pieter de Jongh Departs Malawi Due to Expired Work Permit

Silver Strikers coach Pieter de Jongh has left the country for Kenya this afternoon following the expiry of his work permit.

This comes 24 hours before Silver face Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the first leg of the Airtel Top 8 at Bingu National Stadium.

Silver spokesperson Willard Chakanika says the Dutchman’s work permit expired today.

Chakanika said efforts to renew Jongh’s work permit proved futile as there is shortage of forex in the country.

“We applied for the renewal of his work permit but we were supposed to pay through US dollars, so he decided to travel to Kenya,” Chakanika said.

However, Chakanika insisted that the Dutchman has not been fired. According to Chakanika, assistant coaches Peter Mgangira and Etison Kadenge Mwafulirwa will be in charge of the team tomorrow.
