Members’ Sikh association on Saturday made a donation of medical supplies to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (Qech) worth K2.4 million in response to the Cholera outbreak.

The donation included crucial supplies such as ringer lactate, imboost tablet, grooves and masks.

The association chairperson Bobby Singh said health facilities are in need of medical supplies that will assist in curbing the cases of the outbreak.

He said: “We have noticed that the attention to fight the Cholera outbreak has been shifted since the coming in of Cyclone Freddy.

“At the same time, we cannot ignore that Cholera is amidst us where we have lost many Malawians due to the outbreak.”

On her part, Qech principal nursing officer Squaiker Bwanali said Cholera causes are going down though they still have patients in facilities.

“We have referred cholera cases to the hospital as it was not safe to keep patients in the temporary structures we had at our health centers due to the heavy rains,” she said.
