SHOCKING: Albino’s grave exhumed; body parts chopped in Blantyre

Limbe Police in Blantyre has launched a manhunt for unknown assailants who desecrated a grave belonging to late Tony Robert a person with albinism in Chigumula Township in Blantyre District.

Public Relations Officer for Limbe Police, Aubrey Singanyama has confirmed the development saying Robert died of cancer on July 07, 2022 and was buried the following day.

“It is reported that on June 25, 2023 at around 1400hours some people who were passing by a graveyard at Maliha village in the area, noted that Robert’s grave had been tampered with,” said Singanyama

According to Singanyama, the villagers informed the village head who took the matter to Limbe Police.

“Detectives in company of an official from Association of Persons with Albinism in Malawi (APAM) and a clinical officer from Bvumbwe Health Centre rushed to the scene.

Shockingly, they discovered that Robert’s body had been disembodied, and its arms and legs removed.”

The officers took the remaining body parts to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital’s mortuary awaiting reburial.

The killing of people with albinism is linked to witchcraft rituals, with practitioners wrongly believing the victim’s body parts bring good luck.
