Senior chief Nthalire of Chitipa dies

The Chitipa District Council has confirmed the passing of Senior Chief Nthalire, born Ackim Kawonga.

The council’s spokesperson, Bishop Witmos, announced that the chief passed away in the early hours of today at Mzuzu Central Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for several weeks.

Chief Nthalire was installed as a Traditional Authority in 2018 and later elevated to the position of Senior Chief in 2020.

He was well respected and admired by his community for his dedication to serving and improving the lives of the people in his district.

The council has expressed its condolences to the chief’s family and the entire community.

It has also announced that details of the chief’s burial will be communicated soon.

The chief’s passing is a great loss to the community and will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
