Tondola Primary School committee in Chitipa District has appealed to government and stakeholders for new school blocks, teachers houses and desks to create a conducive environment for learning.
Simwaba: The school is in dilapidated stateand
School committee chairperson Mathews Simwaba made the appeal on Friday at Chitipa Boma during a reading fair organised for learners to showcase reading and poetry recital skills.
He said: “This school opened its doors in 1998. However, the school structures are old and in adilapidated state. We, therefore, appeal to government to renovate the existing structures and construct new school blocks, teachers’ houses and buy desks to motivate teachers and learners.”
Kapoka Zone primary education adviser Victor Mulenga advised parents to help learners to read a lot of literature found in their respective homes. On his part, Chitipa district council chairperson Thomas Kapesa agreed that many school blocks in the district, including at Tondola Primary School are death traps to learners and need replacement.
