SADC hires Zambian law firm as Legal Consultant on Regional Energy Projects

The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) has hired a Zambian Law Firm, Ilunga & Company, to provide legal expertise on 17 Energy Projects in the region.

The said energy projects cut across the entire region from East Africa to South Africa, including the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In December 2021, the first SADC Electricity Working Group resolved to expedite electricity projects in the region through a programme dubbed Southern Africa Power Pool Accelerated Regional Energy Projects (SADC SAPP AREP).

The programme aims to provide technical assistance and provide support to enhance capacity and effectiveness of key regional institutions in addressing infrastructure requirements and challenges in the SADC energy sector to strengthen regional integration.
