Chairperson for Nathereza Community Policing Forum in Thyolo, Rajab Benias Phiri has confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old woman Gloria Manyungwa who allegedly killed her new born baby.

Phiri said that the baby was found in a pit on the evening of Monday inside the groundnuts field.

“We were tipped by some communities who were surprised that the woman who had about eight months pregnancy was looking different, until a certain elderly woman found the baby hidden in a pit inside the groundnuts field,” he said.

Manyungwa hails from Nathereza Village, Traditional Authority Chimaliro in Thyolo District.
