Rumphi Secondary School students assaulted to death an unknown young man suspected of being a thief in the early hours of Sunday October 1, 2023.

Rumphi Police Station Publicist Noel Kamchenga said the incident happened around 01.00am in the school campus.

“The dead body has been taken to Rumphi District Hospital by police pending identification and postmortem,” he said.

He added that Police are investigating the case and no arrests have been made so far.

The suspected thief was in his early twenties, according to police.

Meanwhile Police in Rumphi have warned against mob justice, saying it compromises police work.
