Rotary Clubs project impresses governor

The governor for Rotary Clubs International district 9210 Victor Mensah says he is impressed with the charitable projects being implemented by the Rotary Clubs of Blantyre and Limbe.

He said this on Wednesday during a joint fellowship of the clubs and induction of a new member at Blantyre Sports Club.

“The clubs are running a number of commendable projects in water and sanitation, conservation of the environment and some charitable activities in serving communities,” said Mensah.

Rotary Club of Limbe president Daniel Dunga said they implemented a number of projects in the year, including the Cyclone Ana Recovery Programme, which reached out to 11 000 families in Chikwawa, Nsanje and Phalombe districts.

He said: “We had another project where we partnered Waste Adviser to clean up waste and donated bins in major markets in the city.

“The club has also reached out to a number of needy students in universities who withdrew because of lack of fees.”

Rotary Club of Blantyre president Chifwayi Chirambo said the joint fellowship will strengthen the relationship between the clubs.

Harriet Mariani, who was inducted, said joining the Rotary Club of Limbe will help her serve many vulnerable communities.
