Robbery suspect dies in hospital, stolen property recovered from his home

A robbery suspect, George Pailoti, who was shot on the thigh as he tried to escape arrest in Naperi during the night of Sunday, March 5, 2023 has died while receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.

Meanwhile, police have recovered several property suspected to have been stolen from his home and those of his accomplices.

Pailoti was arrested at around 8pm together with two of his accomplices: Silence Kambuzi, 38 and Wyson Sinoya, 52, following a tip-off that police received from well wishers.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have been behind a number of robbery and breaking cases in Blantyre.
They have since been connected to 5 cases that were recently recorded in the city.

Among the recovered items are TV screens, home theatres, a solar pump, GoTV decoders, pressing irons and DVD players.
Pailoti hailed from Navala Village, TA Ngolongoliwa in Thyolo District. Silence Kambuzi hails from Ntigala Village, TA Symon, Zomba whereas Wyson Sinoya hails from Chimwala Village, TA Chiwaula in Mangochi District.

The police wish to encourage the general public to continue sharing with them information about suspected criminals in their areas.
