Reverend Maurice Munthali has resigned from his post as Publicity Secretary of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) with immediate effect.

His resignation came barely hours after the resignation of State House Director of Media Sean Kampondeni.

In a statement released on Wednesday made available to face of Malawi, Munthali has also resigned as Presidential Advisor on Peace and National Unity.

In the statement, Munthali cited rampant corruption and failure by the Tonse Alliance headed by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to fulfill some of the campaign promises.
