Retired Soldiers To Hold Vigils At Account General’s Office In Lilongwe Over Pension Funds

About 1500 retired soldiers have threatened to hold vigils at Account General’s office in Lilongwe should the office fail to pay them their pension in seven days.

One of them claim they were deducted money from their salaries and it has been years since they retired but have not received it yet.

They argue all paper work was done in all stages and do not understand why the funds are not released.

“Most of us are getting old and suffering. Something could have been avoided if the money was given to us,” says one of the concerned retired soldiers.

Treasury authorities are yet to comment on the development.
