Residents pen BCC over Misesa bypass road construction

Concerned residents in the commercial city of Blantyre have written the Blantyre City Council (BCC) regarding the ongoing construction works of Misesa bypass road.

Among others the residents want to know how the city will compensate surrounding community members who will be affected by the construction works.

According to them, the council has remained mum on the compensation subject hence the petition.

The petition also pointed out that the contractors have damaged the old drainage system and there is no hope that the new one will be constructed soon.

The letter signed by 20 people has since demanded that the council explain remedial action as the people have been affected by rain water, which has damaged their property.

Acting BCC Chief Executive Officer Lyton Nkata said they are yet to receive the petition.
