Development Communications Trust (DCT) social policy project coordinator Thandi Mchiswe has urged journalists in Chikwawa District to report issues concerning the youth.
She said this last week at the end of a training for journalists from Chibvomelezi and Nyungwe community radio stations in the district.

“Journalists play a big role in raising awareness and educating the masses. The training will equip journalists with skills to pursue child-centred stories,” she said.
Chibvomelezi Community Radio station manager Blessings Melo said journalists should report issues that concern children.
“As a media house, we will incorporate programmes that will include children’s voices on projects implemented in their areas,” he said.
A journalist, Makosa Kanyama from Nyungwe Community Radio, commended DCT for the training, saying he learned about local governance systems. With funding from Unicef, DCT is implementing a Child and Youth Friendly Communities Initiatives project in the district to strengthen decentralised structures at local and district levels to give a platform to children and youths to participate in development projects.
