RBM reacts to fuel hike rumours, threatens to deal with man behind leaked communiqué

The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has threatened to deal with a man who has leaked a statement purportedly recommending fuel price hike in the country.

The social media has been awash with a statement from Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) recommending a fuel hike in the country.

The statement claimed that petrol jump by 13.56% from from K1999 to K2270 while Diesel will rise by 18.96% from Mk1920 to K2184.

Paraffin from K1261 tonK1627 representing a 29.02%.

But speaking in an interview with the press RBM spokesperson Ralph Tseka has said the bank will deal with a man behind the leaked circular.

According to Tseka, they believe that the circular might have been leaked by unscrupulous individuals who attended the said meeting.

Meanwhile, Tseka has trashed the rumours of fuel hike.
