PSLCE exams underway, teacher arrested for embezzling examination fees 21 candidates

The Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has started administering this year’s Primary School Leaving School Certificate of Education examination across the country.

According to MANEB, over 276, 000 candidates are sitting for this year’s PSLCE examination.

The exams will run for three days.

Meanwhile, the law enforcers have arrested a teacher from Manondo Primary School in Dowa for allegedly swindling examination fees of 21 Standard 8 candidates.

The teacher has been identified as Obed Kasonda Bwetu.

According to information at hand, in the year 2022 the head teacher of the school called for a meeting between parents and school authorities where he informed them that they were supposed to send examination fees through Airtel Money or bank on their own.

At the meeting, some parents complained that they would not manage to pay directly on their own and therefore agreed to choose Bwetu to help the candidates pay to MANEB but it has been revealed that the teacher allegedly sent the money for 69 candidates only.

The teacher will appear in court soon.
