Mwanza First Grade Magistrate court has convicted and sentenced a 26-year-old prophet to 14 years imprisonment for having sex with a 16-year-old church member.

State prosecutor Jane Juma, told the court that the prophet identfied as Stonard Ali of Ilambo Pentecost Church, committed the crime in December 2023 in the name of exorcism.

In his ruling, First Grade Magistrate Gladstone Chilundu slapped the prophet 14 years imprisonment with hard labor saying this should serve as a warning, adding that the offence is a serious one.

However it is being the reported that  the prophet broke the girl’s vigirnity without protection, telling her that was a way of delivering her from evil oceanic spirits.
