The Malawi Prison Service has interdicted Emmanuel Chiganda for transacting with a prisoner to traffic cellphones into prison.
This follows an incident where a prisoner inserted two cellophones into the anus and ended into his intestines at Zomba Central Prison.
A document in our possession signed by Commissioner of Prisons Denzio Makumba, indicates that three more prison warders have also been interdicted on half pay until communicated otherwise.
The other interdicted officers include; Zacheus Sichali of Rumphi prison for defrauding a Malawian in Chitipa with counterfeit foreign currency, Josophat Mphanhwe and Rashid Kamwendo of Lilongwe prison for trafficking into prison Indian hemp.
National Prison spokesperson Chimwemwe Shawa has authenticated the document in our possession.
