Malawi Prisons Service Authorities have confirmed the arrest of two of its officers in connection with a prison break that happened last week at Chichiri prison.

Last week, Thursday, at least five prisoner booted out of the correction facility after they managed to demolish a wall of the cell they were being held in.

According to information, the prisoners were urinating on wall with an aim of weakening it of which they ere successful.

However, the prison officers managed to re capture one inmate and two are still at large.

According to Chimwemwe Shaba, Spokesperson for the service the two officers are Edward Chelafu and Wonderful Chiwaula.

Shaba said the two have been arrested because preliminary findings indicate that the officers were not at the post which they were assigned to man which the prisoners used to escape.

He said the service has asked the police to question them on why they were not at the post.
