Presidential Taskforce engages local councils on cholera outbreak fight

The Presidential Taskforce on Cholera has implored local councils to make laws that would help in fighting against the continuing spread of the outbreak which has claimed 418 lives.

Co-chairperson of the task force , Khumbize Chiponda, who was accompanied by Minister of Information Gospel Kazako, said that the task force has submitted to the Ministry of Justice for review, proposed restrictions to be enforced at national level.

Chiponda told reporters in Lilongwe today that among others, councils should discourage the selling of already prepared food along the roads and in public restaurants.

The taskforce has since asked partners like private sector to join forces in fighting the outbreak.
