Osamavera achule wa- Matola

Minister of Energy Ibrahim Matola has come under fire for branding President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s Tonse Alliance administration critics as ‘Achule’ meaning frogs in English.

Matola was speaking on Monday at Golomoti in Dedza during the inauguration of Golomoti Solar Power Plant project which a Canadian Independent power producer JCM Power and InfraCo Africa has installed to add 20 power megawatts to the national grid.

“Bwana President, chonde musawamvele achulewa amene akunena kuti osamayenda, osamayenda (Mr President, don’t listen to the frogs who are asking you to cut travels),” said Matola

Recently, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the country asked President Chakwera to cut down on local and international travels in order to reduce government spending amid prevailing economic challenges.
