Potifala Nabbed For Forging Signature In Neno

Police in Neno Dostrict have arrested a 23-year-old man, for allegedly forging a signature of a council official in an attempt to steal K639,000.00 using a fake cheque.

Spokesperson for Neno police , Rabbeca Msoliza has identified the suspect as Potifala Yohane who is a member of Malaina Bank Mkhonde club which is under Malawi Watershed Services Improvement Project (Mwasip) and the club is into piggery.

According to Msoliza, the suspect connived with some club members to withdraw the cash from their FDH account without the knowledge of the council so that they share among themselves.

The suspect then forged a signature for the council official and in the afternoon hours of April 30, 2024, he went to FDH bank (Neno branch) where he presented the cheque in an attempt to withdraw the money but a bank teller suspected the other signature.
