Government through the ministry of finance has single out the population growth in the country as a blow which is  accelerating economic growth at a slower rate which is a threat to a country.

Finance Minister Sosten Gwengwe, has said that Malawi is a small country of about 180,000 km2.

He says compared to Malawi, Zambia is five times the size of Malawi but that the population is almost similar.

He has since launched the population policy and called on all stakeholders to support it.
