Political interference is fueling street vending in Malawi

Authorities have cited political interference as a blow in ending street vending in the country.
The sentiment has been made in Lilongwe during the City Summit held in Lilongwe under the theme ‘My city my responsibility, together building the city we want’.
Minister of Local Government Richard Chimwendo Banda has confirmed that political interference continues to let down efforts to end street vending in the country.
Chimwendo continue saying that there is a huge hope that the summit will come up with implementable ideas to transform city in ways including waste management.
Meanwhile, Mayor for Lilongwe city Richard Banda has  challenged stakeholders to work together so that the summit is successful in transforming the city.
