Police to charge, prosecute bus driver whose vehicle killed Mary Mount student in road accident

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) said the driver who was driving a bus that had an accident yesterday near Luviri and killed one student from Marymount secondary school will be charged and prosecuted.

National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya identified the bus driver as Duncan Ngwende.

According to Kalaya, the driver of a bus belonging to Panache Logistics allegedly lost control of the bus due to over speeding.

Kalaya said though the driver sustained some injuries in the accident but he will still be charged and prosecuted.

Of the 58 passengers, three sustained serious injuries while 18 sustained minor injuries and others were treated as out patients at Mzimba district hospital.
