Police officer handed 2 years jail sentence for stealing 9 goats

Sub inspector Richard Mpomba aged 44 has been sentenced two years imprisonment for influencing herd boys to sell him nine goats they did not own.

Mpomba made the offence last year in March.

First Grade Magistrate, Watson Mankhamba made the punishment to Sub Inspector Mpomba yesterday.

State Prosecutor, Sub- Inspector Victor Nachuma said the Former Police Officer persuaded the herd boys.

Mankhamba said, “Mpomba influenced the boys to sell the goats to him saying he admired the breed which they hesitantly did.”

Nachuma hails from Mwendomtengo village in the area of Traditional Authority Tengani in the district.

This is a second police officer to lose his job in just less than a month, after another, Sub Inspector, Mark Dyson, 38, was sentenced 1 year imprisonment and suspended for 18 months for aiding a defilement convict to escape from lawful custody.
