Police in Nsanje have arrested a 29 year-old police officer for suspecting him that he defiled a 17-year-old girl.

The suspect has been identified as James Luciano who defiled the girl during the night of April 03,2023 at Marka Police Unit.

It is reported that the victim was detained for the offense of conduct likely to cause a breach of peace during day time.

During night time at about 10:00hrs the Officer in-charge for Marka police unit Assistant superintendent Mirrium Makombe heard the victim crying at the charge office and that prompted her to inform her neighbors to find out what was transpiring.

Upon interviewing her she disclosed that she had been defiled by a police officer. Immediately identification parade was done and the rank was identified.

Luciano is soon expected to appear in court to answer a case of defilement.

James Luciano is 29 years old hails from Zipangani village in the area of Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District.
