Police Fires Teargas To UNIMA Students Demonstrating In Zomba

Information reaching us indicates that police have fired teargas to University of Malawi students (UNIMA) students who were demonstrating against academic calendar.

The new academic calendar, which will see other students going for a five-month holiday.

According to one the students who opted for anonymity, some students who enrolled at the university in 2018 are yet to complete their studies and that the decision the new calendar will delay them further.

The students had earlier presented a petition to their social welfare office before blocking Charles Lwangwa Road as they proceeded to University of Malawi offices.
