Information reaching this publication indicate that there are running battles between police and some villagers at Chitakale trading centre in Mulanje.

According to reports, it is alleged that some people suspected to be ex-workers of Chitakale Estate have been stealing the estate’s property, mainly trees in anger that the company owes them dues.

Further reports show that this morning some angry people burnt a certain portion of the estate’s green tea and police moved in and fired teargas to disperse the irate villagers.
