Police Detain Suspected Land Encroachers in Conforzi Plantations Case

Thyolo police have arrested six individuals on suspicion of encroaching on Conforzi Plantations Limited land.

The suspects, identified as Iwen Bruno, Patison Kapenda, Christopher Senzani, Duncan Kachepa, Luke Maxwell Mabuku, and Moffat Namalima, hail from senior chiefs Nchiramwera and Bvumbwe in the district.

The arrests were made during a joint operation with the estate on January 30, 2024.

Last week, a viral video showed security guards, suspected to be from the company, slashing maize for encroachers, prompting engagement between the council and Conforzi Plantations Limited.

Thyolo district commissioner Hudson Kuphanga stated that the council is addressing the matter with the company.
