Police in Kasungu have arrested a 43-year-old Florence Mhura and two security guards at Luviri Estate for allegedly trafficking twenty people including children to Mzimba where they were working as tenants.

Kasungu Police spokesperson, Joseph Kachikho says the three were arrested at Chisazima roadblock after police stopped Toyota Hiace registration number CP 5260 which was allegedly repatriating the survivors to their destinations.

Police say one of the survivors revealed to police that they were being repatriated to their home districts after being paid only K20,000 in part payment of the agreed K200,000 for working the whole year.

According to Kachikho some of the tenants were taken from Lilongwe, Dedza and Mchinji districts to work at the farm last year.

The two other suspects who are security guards at the Estate have been identified as Luke Ngoma, 28, and Robert Banda, 36.

Mhura hails from Mabuchi Village, Traditional Authority Mbelwa in Mzimba District.
