PLENTY BEER AT MULHAKO WA ALHOMWE FEAST

Mulhako Wa Alhomwe’s Chairperson Leston Mulli says they have plenty beer with different kinds at today’s event of Mulhako Wa Alhomwe which is taking place at Chonde Culture Heritage in Mulanje District which will end on Sunday.

“We have over 200 drums of Masese beer, 2,000 liters of local spirits (Kachasu) and plenty of Chibuku beer at this year’s Mulhako Wa Alhomwe feast,” said Leston Mulli.

This Year’s Mulhako festival, People from Malawi and Mozambique, are being celebrating under the theme of “Unity amid diversity”.

The Lomwe are one of the four largest ethnic groups living in Malawi.  They are located primarily in the southeast section of Malawi, they are almost entirely in the Zambezi Province.

In 1996, a source indicated that the majority lived in Malawi, but they are originally from Mozambique.

However, current sources now indicate that the population in Mozambique is about double that in Malawi.
