Former president Dr. Bakili Muluzi in his capacity as goodwill ambassador of CycloneFreddy says Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation has made a deposit of USD 500 000 to the Malawi Red Cross Society towards the construction of houses for survivors of the disaster in Phalombe and Zomba districts.
Speaking during a press briefings at his BCA residence in Blantyre says this is a profound impact for the displaced Malawians who are in urgent need of the assistance through vital shelter and food.
Muluzi and former president Dr. Joyce Banda have been soliciting funds at the call of president Lazarus Chakwera’s cyclonefreddyresponse under the Tigwiranemanja campaign.

Taking his turn, Malawi Red Cross Society President Innocent Majiya says the K535 million kwacha donation will be used to construct 75 houses in Zomba and Phalombe districts.
“We received the funds and we will construct 45 houses in Phalombe and 30 houses in Phalombe. We will use artisans from the districts under the supervision of the Malawi Housing Corporation (MHC).
The houses are expected to be occupied in the next four months.
