Pharmacy Technician Rafik Mustapha suspended for administering wrong medication to late Kotana Chidyaonga

The Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) has suspended a Pharmacy Technician, Rafik Mustapha, for dispensing incorrect medication to the late Kotana Chidyaonga in January 2020.

In a notice released on Friday, Mustapha will be suspended for six months.

Reads the notice: “Negligence. Contravention of the Pharmacy Code of Ethics on principles 3 and 5: He was found negligent in discharging his duties, which led to the dispensing of incorrect medication. His conduct in failing to conduct good dispensing procedure is against the code of ethics that guides the pharmacy profession”.

This follows a complaint from Timothy Ntilosanje (Kotanna’s boyfriend) one of the people arrested and charged with murder in relation to Kotanna’s death but later acquitted of the charges.
