Police in Chikwawa have confirmed the death of pedal cyclist and two passengers (mother and son) who have died after their bicycle was hit by a fuel tanker near Chikwawa FDH Bank, yesterday.

The police have identified the deceased as Grace Frank 33, her 3-year old son Frank Khola both from Nkhongono Village, in the area of Traditional Authority Changata in Thyolo and Yohane Austin (pedal cyclist)18, who hailed from Bamusi Village, in the area of Traditional Authority Mlilima in Chikwawa District.

Meanwhile, the Police have arrested fuel tanker driver, Owen Makombe 42, for over speeding, have taken him into their custody to face the charge of causing death by reckless driving.

Makombe will appear before court soon.
