Partners in Health, in partnership with World Vision Malawi on Wednesday donated relief items to Cyclone Ana survivors in Chikwawa District.
The donationmade through their recovery programme, saw each beneficiary household receiving K18 000 and various relief items including maize, plastic sheets, beans, soya pieces, sugar and salt.

Speaking in an interview after the handover, Partners in Health chief operating officer Basimenye Nhlema said for eight weeks now, the organisations have also supported the survivors with medical supplies through mobile clinics.
She said: “There are some parts in the district that are completely cut off from the district hospital which has hindered them to access proper health services.”
Chikwawa World Vision district coordinator Mark Alan said the once-off cash distribution programme, funded by World Food Programme, will support 35 299 households.
Chikwawa district commissioner Ali Phiri said most of the people who were in the camp have relocated to their homes, with a few other remaining as they await relocation.
A beneficiary, Matinesi Notesi thanked the organisations for the support, which she said has come at the right.
