Parliament suspended again over Gam fuels gas station scandal

Speaker Catherine Gotani Hara has been forced to suspended deliberations again at the August House in Lilongwe after opposition MP insisted to discuss a Private Member’s Motion on Gam fuels gas station at Kanengo.

Dowa West MP Abel Kayembe wants to bring the motion which could allow the Legal affairs committee of Parliament to probe the matter.

In the morning, the house was also suspended prematurely to allow the Business Committee of Parliament to map the way forward.

But when the house resumed for business this afternoon, opposition MPs insisted to have the issue tabled in the house.

The move forced the Speaker to suspend the house for 20 minutes so that a supplementary Order paper be prepared to accommodate the Motion.
