Over 300 households in Lilongwe left with no shelter after police invasion

Over 300 households at Kaumba in Lilongwe have been left in desperate after police invaded their village, demolishing and burning their houses.

One of the villagers Davie Suwedi said that armed police officers arrived in their village at around 2 am, demanding that they vacate the land.

However, Ministry of Lands Principal Secretary Davie Chilonga has confirmed the development by saying that the land was allocated to NutTrust, a company led by Ufulu Loga and that the people encroached it.

He added that the law enforcers were only enforcing a court order that the villagers pave way for the land owner to develop it.
