Over 1000 people to benefit from safe water

At least 126, 120 people will benefit from rehabilitation works for the Phalombe major and Sombani gravity fed piped water schemes done by the government.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, James Daire said so far 1,051 Community Water Points (CWPs) have been constructed.

Chairperson for Namasoko Area Development Committee (ADC), Alfred Lokonene said for about a year now, people in the area did not have access to piped water.

In 2016, the government of Malawi with support from Africa Development Bank (AfDB) started the project in Phalombe to maintain sanitation and increase access to potable water among communities.
