ONE ACRE FUND DISTRIBUTES TREE SEEDLINGS TO 470 FARMERS IN CHIRADZULU

470 farmers in Chiradzulu have benefited from One Acre Fund after receiving 19 tree seedlings each at Ntakhala Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kadewere.

Speaking after the distribution of the seedlings, One Acre Fund’s Public Relations Officer John Matemba said more trees will be distributed by the end of 2022/23 program.

According to Matemba, the organization aims to distribute approximately 1.4 million tree seedlings by the end of the program

“The tree seedlings that will be distributed need to be planted in order to prevent the reoccurrence of floods which are common in this district, this is part of our National Tree Planting exercise,” said Matemba.

James Mkombe who represented the Director of Agriculture commended One Acre Fund for the initiative and ensured them of government’s support in monitoring the process.

Group Village Head Kadewere told the community to hold a culture of planting trees.

The next phase of the tree seedling distribution will commence from December 2022 till January 2023 in Mombezi, Mbulumbuzi and Thumbwe.
