Old Mutual Malawi plc has donated K3 million to Tingathe, a youth organisation, to train about 80 youths in fashion design and tailoring.
Speaking during cheque presentation in Blantyre on Thursday, Old Mutual Malawi group chief finance officer Vera Zulu said they started supporting the youth organisation in 2017.

“We are glad that we have played a role in shaping the future of 600 youths who we have empowered with skills that will help them to earn a living,” he said.
Zulu said equipping the youth with vocational skills can help to create jobs in the country.
She said the untapped human capital if fully engaged can contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.
“The youth who have completed secondary education and do not proceed to higher learning institutions remain unemployed due to lack of necessary skills for the job market,” she said.
A member of Tingathe, Chikondi Kaponda ,thanked Old Mutual Malawi for the donation and pledged that the money will be used for the intended purpose.
“Old Mutual Malawi is doing a commendable job in uplifting the lives of young people through provision of finances to train them in vocation skills,” she said.
