The National Planning Commission (NPC) has today awarded the former President of United Democratic Front (UDF), Dr. Bakili Muluzi an inter-generational champion certificate.

According to Richard Mkandawire, Chairperson for NPC, Dr. Muluzi is an excellent Malawian leader and father of democracy and that Muluzi laid the foundation for a successful civic space and self-governing institutions like the Office of Ombudsman, the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Professor Mkandawire who presented a certificate of recognition to the former president, mentioned some of the things that led his acknowledgement such as free Primary education, which he considers as one thing that promoted to the progress of the country’s economy.

Former cabinet ministers, diplomats and politicians were present at his BCA residence in Blantyre.
