Nine Ethiopians Intercepted in Rumphi, Driver at large

Police in Rumphi district has launched a manhunt for a driver suspected to have aided nine Ethiopians to enter Malawi illegally.

Rumphi police publicist Tupeliwe Kabwino has confirmed the development while saying their office got a tip that a motor vehicle suspected to have carried illegal immigrants had parked in Mchenga Coal Mine woodlot.

But when visited the site they only found the immigrants as the driver had fled.

The nine are; Demesa Delamu 25, Temesgen Kutesa17, Memu Deselnze 20, Yelgonamu Asheso 15, Beluk Densonst14, Zerehon Genessen 12, Gezch Abat 18, Etasu Terkusa 14 and Amanuel Ametg 21

This comes barely a week after Minister of Homeland Security Jean Sendeza had visited the northern region where she strongly spoke against the illegal entry of foreign nationals.
