Police in Lilongwe are keeping in custody a Nigerian lady Annie Nwozuzu Chinyere in connection with the death of Agnes Katengeza whose body was found bundled in the trunk of her abandoned KIA Sportage in Area 47 in Lilongwe on September 24, 2023 after she was reported missing the previous day.
Lawyer for the suspect Chrispine Mndala has confirmed to Nation Online that her client was arrested on September 27, 2023 and that the police also confiscated her phones.
The lawyer adds that last Thursday she was taken to Lilongwe Magistrate Court where he applied for bail and that the court is yet to set date to make a ruling.
National police spokesperson Peter Kalaya has however, indicated that the police have not made any arrest in a brief response to our inquiry today.
An impeccable source has however, confided to us that the ‘suspect’ was picked up after the police tracked the cellphone calls of the deceased.
Said the source: “The cellphone activities stopped at the house of this lady. When the police wanted to interview this lady she behaved suspicious to the point of dodging the police. It is this behaviour that motivated the police to detain her cellphones.”
