Umunthu Plus has donated assorted medical supplies to Ntchisi District Hospital and other items to the needy in Traditional Authority Kalumo in the district.
Speaking after the donation on Tuesday, the organisation’sprogrammes officer Faida Imulani said they wanted to lessen the challenges the hospital is facing.
She said: “We have been working in the district for three years and we understand the problems the facility faces. So, we donated thermometers, face masks, rubber boots and mattresses we sourced from Crossroads Foundation in Hong Kong.”

Imulani said Umunthu Plus seeks to improve access to quality education.
“That is why we also donated textbooks for both primary and secondary school needy learners,” she said.
Ntchisi district medical officer Yakobe Machira thanked the organisation for the donation.
“Despite the country registering few Covid-19 cases, the pandemic still exists. Therefore, the face masks will protect frontline healthcare workers,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries, Symon Phiri, said he received clothes, shoes and plastic plates from the organisation.
“I could not afford to buy clothes and kitchen utensils. I pledge to take care of the donation,” he said.
